Basketball Game Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Maconaquah Braves

The Tipton Blue Devils will square off against the Maconaquah Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tipton will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Tipton will head into Friday's game hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by 29) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-46 victory over Carroll.

Grady Carpenter was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 32 points and three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Tipton's points. Sam Quigley was another key player, putting up ten points.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Maconaquah's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of Taylor by a score of 60-57. The matchup marked the Braves' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Tipton's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Maconaquah, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-2.

Tipton strolled past Maconaquah in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 91-74. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Maconaquah's Josiah Ball, who went 9 of 20 on his way to 30 points along with eight boards and six assists. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Tipton still be able to contain Ball? There's only one way to find out.
