Basketball Recap: Chisholm Trail Now 10-1 over Last 11 Games

Chisholm Trail won the last time they faced Saginaw and things went their way on Friday too. The Chisholm Trail Rangers put the hurt on the Saginaw Rough Riders with a sharp 71-51 victory. Given the Rangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while the Rough Riders are ranked 572nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chisholm Trail was led to victory by Kaden Richardson and Jesse Mutombo. Richardson went 11 of 18 en route to 33 points and three steals, while Mutombo went 9 for 11 on his way to 20 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Mutombo now owns an excellent 46.1% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Jalen Thomas, who posted nine points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Chisholm Trail was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Saginaw only posted six assists.

Saginaw's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brian Armes, who scored 11 points. Those 11 points gave Armes a new career-high. Willie McCrary was another key player, putting up ten points.

Chisholm Trail is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season. As for Saginaw, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-20.

Chisholm Trail wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-44 win against Granbury on the 4th. As for Saginaw, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-49 loss against Fossil Ridge on the 4th.
