Basketball Recap: Izard County Takes a Loss

Izard County suffered their closest defeat since December 28, 2023 on Monday. They fell just short of the Cave City Cavemen by a score of 56-54. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Cougars came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Cavemen are ranked 89th).

Izard County's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Cave City, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Izard County will take on Sloan-Hendrix at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Sloan-Hendrix will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Izard County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cave City, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 60-52 victory against Valley Springs on the 10th.
