Softball Game Preview: Chilton County Tigers vs. Marbury Bulldogs

The Chilton County Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Marbury Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chilton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Chilton County took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Stanhope Elmore by a score of 8-4.

Mallie Harrison spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lily Benson was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Macey Pierce was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Chilton County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Marbury didn't have quite enough to beat Brewbaker Tech on Thursday and fell 16-15. The Bulldogs haven't had much luck with the Rams recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Chilton County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 29-7-2 record this season. As for Marbury, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-16.

Chilton County beat Marbury 7-3 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
