Recap: Laton Mustangs vs. Woodlake Tigers
The Laton Mustangs have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They slipped by Woodlake 42-41 on Tuesday. That's another feather in the cap for Laton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Laton got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Yann Jimenez out in front who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaythan Garcia, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Woodlake lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Hugo Cruz, who scored 21 points. Cruz scored a full 51.2% of Woodlake's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Luis Rios was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Laton is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 3-11 record this season. As for Woodlake, they are on a 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Laton will look to defend their home court on Friday against Riverdale Christian at 6:00 p.m. As for Woodlake, they will head out on the road to face off against Granite Hills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
