Softball Game Preview: Wapello Indians vs. Lone Tree Lions

Wapello is 8-2 against Lone Tree since June of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Indians will face off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Wapello proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 13) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Hillcrest Academy, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted since June 26, 2025.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Lone Tree took on Pekin on Thursday. The Lions narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Panthers 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Lone Tree's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Wapello, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Wapello came up short against Lone Tree in their previous meeting back in June of 2025, falling 3-0. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
