Baseball Recap: Griffith Triumphs

Griffith not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 13, 2025 (when they won 17-0). They blew past the Hammond Morton Governors 20-10. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Governors, too.

Logan Jimenez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jimenez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anthony Feliciano, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jason Quillin, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Griffith always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond Morton only posted an OBP of .438.

Griffith's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Hammond Morton, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Looking ahead, Griffith will welcome Hammond Central at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hammond Morton, they will take on Kankakee Valley in a tournament on Friday.
