Canyon proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Esperanza Aztecs 5-3. This was a revenge game for the Comanches: when they faced off against the Aztecs on April 1st, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Canyon is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Esperanza, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 16 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon will face off against Pacifica at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mariners' pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Comanches' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Esperanza, they will take on Fullerton at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
