Baseball Game Preview: Arlington Eagles vs. Platteview Trojans

Arlington hasn't had much luck against Platteview recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will head out to square off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Neither Arlington nor Platteview posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Arlington is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game on Saturday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Lincoln Lutheran.

Tim Halley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

Meanwhile, Platteview unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (5-1), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Platteview also got a good showing from Bryson Douglas, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, Douglas didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

At the plate, Andre Dominguez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double.

Arlington's record is now 5-11. As for Platteview, their record now sits at 10-9.

Arlington might still be hurting after the 13-4 loss they got from Platteview in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
