Recap: Safford Bulldogs vs. Empire Ravens
The Safford Bulldogs posted their biggest win yet this season on Thursday. They blew past Empire 48-23. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Safford also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Safford was led to victory by Hannah Schade and Camilla Smith. Schade scored eight points along with three steals and three blocks, while Smith scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaidyn Mortensen, who scored two points along with three steals and three blocks.
Despite the loss, Empire still got an impressive performance from TALISSA DURAN, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Safford has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 5-11 record this season. As for Empire, their loss was their ninth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-16.
Safford will head out on the road to challenge Catalina at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Empire, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tanque Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tanque Verde is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
