Baseball Recap: Roosevelt Has No Trouble Against Berthoud

Roosevelt barely beat Berthoud the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Roughriders were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over the Spartans on Tuesday. Considering the Roughriders have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Mylander made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Mylander was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Wyatt McNerney looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

Back at the plate, Kayden Bryant and Luke Unruh did most of the damage at the plate: Bryant got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Unruh went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three runs gave Bryant a new career-high. Maddox Mesa also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

The victory made it two in a row for Roosevelt and bumps their season record up to 11-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Berthoud, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-9.

Roosevelt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 6-4 victory against Thompson Valley on the 28th. As for Berthoud, they have also already played their next match, a 13-3 win against Greeley Central on the 26th.
