Baseball Recap: Big Sandy Beats Cumby for Their Third Straight Victory

Big Sandy had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Cumby Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 on Tuesday.

Kayden Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 17 over 6.2 innings pitched. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 5.7 strikeouts per game. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Malijah Francis and Logan Brown did most of the damage at the plate: Francis went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, while Brown went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave Francis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayden Akin, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Big Sandy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Big Sandy now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Cumby, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-16.

Coming up, Big Sandy will welcome Bowie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cumby does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
