Softball Game Preview: Lancaster Flying Arrows vs. Platteville Hillmen

The Lancaster Flying Arrows will venture away from home to take on the Platteville Hillmen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Lancaster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

Lancaster barely beat Southwestern the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Flying Arrows were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Wildcats on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Flying Arrows, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Emma Jensen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Aleah Jackering was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Thursday as neither Platteville nor River Valley made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Hillmen had just enough and edged out the Blackhawks 2-1.

Kennedy Shea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Lainee Pickel was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.

The win got Platteville back to even at 4-4. As for Lancaster, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Lancaster was able to grind out a solid win over Platteville in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Flying Arrows since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
