Basketball Recap: Newburgh Free Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but Newburgh Free Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 62-54 to the North Rockland Raiders. The Goldbacks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Raiders from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

Despite the loss, Newburgh Free Academy still got an impressive performance from Terrinashjae 'TT' Burden, who posted 29 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The contest was Burden's 16th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kallie McCoy, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

Newburgh Free Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for North Rockland, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newburgh Free Academy and Eldred will round out the year against one another at 1:30 p.m. on the 28th. North Rockland and Clarkstown South will compete for holiday cheer at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
