Football Game Preview: Spackenkill Spartans vs. Rondout Valley Ganders

The Spackenkill Spartans will square off against the Rondout Valley Ganders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Spackenkill turned things around against Liberty on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 28-7 margin over the Redhawks. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Spartans just coasted through the last quarter.

Meanwhile, Rondout Valley hadn't done well against Burke Catholic recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Ganders enjoyed a cozy 22-8 win over Burke Catholic.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-6. As for Spackenkill, their record now sits at 2-6.

Spackenkill strolled past Rondout Valley when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 24-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
