Basketball Recap: Victoria Knights vs. Macksville Mustangs
The Victoria Knights won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They suffered a tough 54-32 loss at the hands of Macksville. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Victoria in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Victoria still got an impressive performance from Kennidy Amrein, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 12 rebounds. Brinly Lichter was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Macksville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mayce Russell led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five assists and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabela Ortiz, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine steals.
Victoria has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. As for Macksville, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-5.
Victoria will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Macksville, they will be playing at home against the Coyotes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
