Football Game Preview: Horn Lake Eagles vs. DeSoto Central Jaguars

The Horn Lake Eagles will face off against the DeSoto Central Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Horn Lake is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hernando just ended the team's three-game winning streak last Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 22-21 to the Tigers. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Tigers 7-0 in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, DeSoto Central waltzed into their game on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They breezed past the Patriots to the tune of 49-14. The result was nothing new for the Jaguars, who have now won three matchups by 35 points or more so far this season.

Horn Lake better keep an eye on Eric Perry. He was instrumental in DeSoto Central's win, rushing for 200 yards and four scores on only six carries, while also throwing for 88 yards and one TD. Perry's longest rush was for an incredible 85 yards. Another player making a difference was Cade Rodgers, who gained 150 total yards and two touchdowns.

DeSoto Central was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 397 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 191 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

One reason for the win was DeSoto Central's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Landon Caradine was the leader with two. He is becoming a predictor of DeSoto Central's success: when he posts at least one sack the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

DeSoto Central's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Horn Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.

Horn Lake didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against DeSoto Central in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, but they still walked away with a 26-20 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jaguars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
