Recap: Frostproof Bulldogs vs. Lake Placid Dragons
Even though the Lake Placid Dragons scored an imposing 61 points on Thursday, the Frostproof Bulldogs still came out on top. Frostproof walked away with a 71-61 win over Lake Placid. Given Frostproof's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Lake Placid is ranked 554th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Frostproof was led to victory by Turral Berry and Sevastian Rosado. Berry scored 15 points along with eight assists and seven steals, while Rosado scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Rosado has scored at least a third of Frostproof's points. Another player making a difference was Daiveon Pittman, who scored six points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Lake Placid still got an impressive performance from Dj Bullard, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bullard has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Keveun Mason, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Frostproof's victory bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Lake Placid, they bumped their record down to 6-8 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frostproof won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Fort Meade at 8:00 p.m. on January 12th. Fort Meade is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game. Lake Placid won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against DeSoto County at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. DeSoto County is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
