Softball Recap: Homer Pelicans vs. Simsboro Tigers
Homer had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 0-8 to make it nine. They came up short against the Simsboro Tigers, falling 18-3. If the Pelicans were looking for revenge after losing 18-1 to the Tigers when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Simsboro, their record now sits at 6-13. Considering they have won six games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Simsboro's part, Callie Harrison was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. That's the most strikeouts Harrison has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ciara Caldwell, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kailee Hamilton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Homer will head out on the road to take on Arcadia at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Simsboro, they have already played their next matchup, a 16-0 victory against Union Parish on the 25th.
