Softball Recap: Padua Franciscan's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Padua Franciscan dropped their record down to 8-8 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish by a score of 8-7. If the Bruins were looking for revenge after losing 10-8 to the Fighting Irish when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 16th.

For St. Vincent-St. Mary's part, they let Avarie Mays and Mackenzie McFarland run wild. Mays went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while McFarland went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs McFarland has posted over her last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendal Batchik, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Padua Franciscan will head out to square off against Elyria Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for St. Vincent-St. Mary, they will face off against Springfield at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
