Baseball Recap: Wisdom Pioneers vs. Fort Fairfield Tigers
Wisdom had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-8 to make it five. They fell just short of the Fort Fairfield Tigers by a score of 4-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-4 on Wednesday.
As for Fort Fairfield, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since June 6, 2024.
For Fort Fairfield's part, Graedon King was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). King has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with five stolen bases and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Lucas Cormier was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Wisdom will look to defend their home field on Friday against Fort Kent at 4:30 p.m. As for Fort Fairfield, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hodgdon at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
