Basketball Recap: Northeast Guilford Comes Up Short

Northeast Guilford had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 1-3 to make it six. They were dealt a 57-17 defeat at the hands of the South Caldwell Spartans. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-7.

As for South Caldwell, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 20 points or more this season.

South Caldwell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Addison Whitman led the charge by putting up 14 points. Those 14 points gave Whitman a new career-high. Maggie Wilks was another key player, posting 12 points.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast Guilford will welcome Grimsley at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South Caldwell, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Wilkes at 6:30 p.m. The Blackhawks have been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
