Softball Recap: Genoa Area Takes a Loss

Genoa Area couldn't beat Otsego on Monday even though they stacked nine runs on them in the first inning. The Comets fell just short of the Knights by a score of 19-18. The Comets have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Izzy West stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Pennington, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Genoa Area's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Otsego, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-10 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Genoa Area will welcome Maumee at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season. As for Otsego, they will be playing at home against Lakota at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
