Basketball Recap: Argos Comes Up Short

Argos was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the Winamac Warriors. The Dragons were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in November of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Argos lost, don't look at Morgyn Barcus. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points along with four steals and three blocks. With that strong performance, Barcus is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Alydiah Leed, who scored 11 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Winamac's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kandace Kroft, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Kroft a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Marissa Iverson, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 12 points and eight rebounds.

Argos' defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Winamac, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Argos wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 49-14 loss against Glenn on the 19th. As for Winamac, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 38-37 victory against DeMotte Christian on the 14th.
