Crab Orchard hasn't had much luck against Zeigler-Royalton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Crab Orchard will head out to challenge Zeigler-Royalton at 4:30 p.m. Crab Orchard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season.
Crab Orchard took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Norris City-Omaha-Enfield with a sharp 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won three matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.
Fisher Watts made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. Watts was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Crab Orchard got a massive performance out of Brayden Mausey, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2. Cameron Dawes was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
Crab Orchard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Zeigler-Royalton waltzed into their contest on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Spartans.
Zeigler-Royalton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor DeWeerdt, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Zeigler-Royalton's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Crab Orchard, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Crab Orchard suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Zeigler-Royalton in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Crab Orchard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
