Football Game Preview: Springfield Wildcats vs. Northmont Thunderbolts

The Springfield Wildcats will face off against the Northmont Thunderbolts at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springfield's defense has only allowed 10.9 points per game this season, so Northmont's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Springfield is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Fairmont just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 10-7. Having soared to a lofty 31 points in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Meanwhile, Northmont lost a heartbreaker to Miamisburg when they met back in September of 2023, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. The Thunderbolts took a 28-14 bruising from the Vikings. On the bright side, the 14- point performance marked the Thunderbolts' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Springfield's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Northmont, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Everything came up roses for Springfield against Northmont in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-7 victory. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Thunderbolts have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
