Softball Game Preview: Waterloo Tigers vs. Haverling Rams

Waterloo has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Haverling has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Tuesday. The Tigers will welcome the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Waterloo's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Dansville 13-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Gwen DiIorio was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. DiIorio was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gwyn Panek was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Tangel Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Waterloo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .400 or higher in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Haverling rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Bulldogs.

Haverling's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Waterloo, their win bumped their record up to 13-2.
