Corinth Holders extends road losing streak to seven

Recap: Corinth Holders Pirates vs. Willow Spring Storm

The Corinth Holders Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Willow Spring. Corinth Holders was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Willow Spring apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Evan Smith and Max Carlson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while Carlson scored 12 points along with four steals and three blocks. Tyler Sandaire was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.

Willow Spring was led to victory by Grant Overman and Brandon Solomon. Overman dropped a triple-double on ten points, 17 rebounds, and 11 blocks, while Solomon dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Overman hasn't dropped below two blocks for 12 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Xavion Terrell, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Corinth Holders' defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-13. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Willow Spring, their win bumped their record up to 4-11.

Corinth Holders will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Clayton at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Clayton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. As for Willow Spring, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Fuquay - Varina at 8:00 p.m. Fuquay - Varina is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
