Football Recap: Apollo Ridge Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Apollo Ridge hadn't done well against Steel Valley recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings snuck past the Ironmen with an 18-14 win. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 55-10 loss the last time these two teams met.

Alex Clawson threw for 183 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Logen Schrock was his top target, picking up 43 receiving yards and one score.

Despite the loss, Steel Valley still got an impressive performance from Da`Ron Barksdale, who rushed for 120 yards and one TD while picking up 7.1 yards per carry. Barksdale is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 109 every time he's taken the field this season. Terec Seibles got in on the action too, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Apollo Ridge pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.3 points over those games. As for Steel Valley, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Apollo Ridge will face off against rival South Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Steel Valley is set to challenge their familiar foe Our Lady of the Sacred Heart at 7:00 p.m. on the 11th.
