Volleyball Recap: Columbia Lions vs. Northport Mustangs

Columbia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the Northport Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 5-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-6, 25-9.

Northport was led to victory by Kate Beardslee and Alexus Stark. Beardslee had 13 kills, three blocks, and three aces, while Stark had ten aces and five kills. Those three blocks gave Beardslee a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Sphuler, who had five aces, three digs, and a kill.

Columbia's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Northport, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Columbia wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 defeat against Cusick on the 12th. As for Northport, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Inchelium at 6:00 p.m. Inchelium is coming into the contest with three straight victories on the road, so Northport will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
