Softball Game Preview: Delta Eagles vs. Yorktown Tigers

Delta hasn't had much luck against Yorktown recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will be playing at home against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m.

Delta is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Tuesday. They lost 10-4 to Pendleton Heights.

Caidyn Freiburger was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Loser, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Meanwhile, Yorktown entered their tilt with New Palestine on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Dragons get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. The two-run effort marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

The result came thanks to Olivia Jones's shutout, as she gave up just a hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

Yorktown pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Delta, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Delta hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Yorktown struggles in that department as they've averaged .432. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
