Basketball Recap: Hylton Takes a Loss

On Monday, the Hylton Bulldogs were beaten by the Glen Allen Jaguars 88-54. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 369th, while the Jaguars are ranked 67th).

Despite the loss, Hylton still got an impressive performance from Amari Butler, who went 9 for 19 en route to 21 points. Braylen Cole was another key player, putting up six points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Hylton was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since the start of last season.

Glen Allen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase James, who posted 20 points. Another player making a difference was Rj Mickleberry, who had 12 points along with five boards and four steals.

Hylton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Glen Allen, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hylton will take on Osbourn Park at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Osbourn Park has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 183 points over their last three contests. As for Glen Allen, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Glen Allen Jaguars face off against the Armstrong Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Glen Allen's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matchups.
