Basketball Recap: Lincoln Piles Up the Points Against Monterey Trail

Lincoln had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They breezed past the Monterey Trail Mustangs to the tune of 77-43 on Friday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Lincoln got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Moore out in front who went 7-for-13 to rack up 16 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Moore is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last ten games he's played. Tre Simmons was another key player, going 8-for-11 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Lincoln, bringing their record for this year to 27-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.4 points over those games. As for Monterey Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 24-6.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will challenge Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Modesto Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. Monterey Trail does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
