Volleyball Recap: St. Croix Lutheran Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Nova Classical Academy on Monday, St. Croix Lutheran came back down to earth. The Crusaders fell just short of the Cannon Falls Bombers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bombers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 on September 6th.

St. Croix Lutheran took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-16, 16-25, 21-25, 25-19, 19-17.

Despite the loss, St. Croix Lutheran still got an impressive performance from Ellen Dobashi Nunes, who had 39 digs and three aces. Dobashi Nunes is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Cora Coburn, who had 11 digs.

St. Croix Lutheran's loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Cannon Falls, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

St. Croix Lutheran has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Hastings on the 29th. As for Cannon Falls, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 defeat against Kasson-Mantorville on the 26th.
