Baseball Game Preview: Newport Harbor Sailors vs. Fountain Valley Barons

For the second straight game, Newport Harbor will face off against Fountain Valley. The Sailors will square off against the Barons at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Newport Harbor is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Newport Harbor will bounce into Wednesday's game after beating Fountain Valley, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Sailors never let the Barons get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Sailors have posted against the Barons since March 1, 2019.

The result came thanks to Gavin Guy's shutout, as he gave up just eight hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Newport Harbor's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fountain Valley, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-7.
