Baseball Recap: Albany Comes Up Short

Albany extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 4-9. They lost 17-0 to the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Crusaders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-4 back in April.

Albany saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cohen Habben, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for St. Cloud Cathedral, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.

On St. Cloud Cathedral's side, Henry Schloe was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Schloe a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Nolan Bigaouette was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Jake Murphy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albany will take on Pierz at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Cloud Cathedral, they will host Rogers at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
