Baseball Recap: Steel Valley Ironmen vs. South Allegheny Gladiators
Steel Valley extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-10 in the process. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Allegheny Gladiators. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Gladiators this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 on Monday.
As for South Allegheny, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games.
For South Allegheny's part, the team relied heavily on Caleb Jackowski, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Jackowski a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Campano, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Steel Valley will venture away from home to challenge Obama Academy of International Studies at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Allegheny, they will head out to face off against McKeesport at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
