Softball Recap: Commerce's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Commerce's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cooper Bulldogs by a score of 10-5. The high-scoring effort was just what the Tigers needed considering they were shutout in their previous contest.

Charley Lytle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. She is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Allison Medina, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-2. Kaleigh Robrecht was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-2.

Commerce's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7-1. As for Cooper, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Commerce will venture away from home to face off against Prairiland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cooper, they will head out to square off against Saltillo at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
