Basketball Recap: Weslaco Takes a Loss

The matchup between Weslaco and Edinburg North on Tuesday hardly resembled the 36-25 effort from their previous meeting. The Weslaco Panthers fell 58-51 to the Edinburg North Cougars. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cougars earlier this season, when they won 36-25.

Despite the loss, Weslaco still got an impressive performance from Pete Cantu, who went 8 of 14 to rack up 20 points and seven rebounds. Cantu is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Michael Fuentes was another key player, putting up seven points.

Weslaco's loss dropped their record down to 24-9. As for Edinburg North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 22-16.

As of now, neither Weslaco nor Edinburg North have any future games scheduled.
