Basketball Recap: Philip Simmons Iron Horses vs. Mullins Auctioneers
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Philip Simmons can now relate to. They took a 48-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mullins Auctioneers on Friday. The Iron Horses were up 37-13 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.
Several Iron Horses players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Hopper Afman, who posted seven points and five boards.
Mullins got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Deyon Ford out in front who on his way to 29 points along with five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points Ford has posted since back in December of 2024. Dakarai Worley was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 19 boards.
Philip Simmons' defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Mullins, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.
