Mechanicsburg had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 48-37 victory over the Cumberland Valley Eagles on Tuesday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Eagles are ranked eighth).

Cumberland Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nolan Buzalka, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Creston Austin, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 boards.

Mechanicsburg is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. Cumberland Valley's loss ended an 11-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 22-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mechanicsburg will host Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cumberland Valley, they will take on William Penn at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cumberland Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.2 points per game this season.
