Softball Recap: West York Area Snaps Ten-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Kennard-Dale, West York Area was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Gettysburg Warriors. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 12-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Maddie McGlynn spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Skimski, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kayleigh Becker, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

West York Area's victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-8. As for Gettysburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Coming up, West York Area will square off against Littlestown at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunderbolts have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Gettysburg, they will venture away from home to face off against Bishop McDevitt at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
