Softball Recap: Calallen Makes It 22 in a Row at Home

Calallen had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. They blew past the Robstown Cottonpickers 13-2. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 games by seven runs or more this season.

Jordyn Thibodeaux spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kiana Vargas was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Kayden Trevino, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two doubles.

Calallen pushed their record up to 23-4 with the win, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 runs on average over those games. As for Robstown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-7.

Coincidentally, Calallen and Robstown will both be playing Tuloso-Midway the next time they take the field. The Cottonpickers will host the Warriors & Cherokees at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
