Softball Recap: Marquez Gladiators vs. Torres Toros
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marquez). They blew past the Torres Toros 27-5 on Friday. The Gladiators have beaten the Toros the last nine times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Toros has come to flipping the script.
Kamilah Amezcua made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Delilah Sanchez was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Rosalia Reyes, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
