Basketball Game Preview: Goldwater Bulldogs vs. Moon Valley Rockets

The Goldwater Bulldogs will square off against the Moon Valley Rockets at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Goldwater took a blow against Paradise Honors, falling 84-21. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 292nd, while the Panthers are ranked 54th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Moon Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They took down Shadow Mountain 46-27 on Thursday. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Matadors recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Moon Valley found their leader in freshman Aniston Pattershall, who posted 17 points and six steals. Moon Valley is 5-2 when Pattershall posts five or more steals, but 5-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayde Hooey, who had seven points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Goldwater's loss was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-16. As for Moon Valley, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Things could have been worse for Goldwater, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-30 loss to Moon Valley when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pattershall, who scored 13 points along with six steals and five assists.
