Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Calhoun Academy's Third in Last Four Outings

Calhoun Academy's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They never let the Grace Christian Eagles get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Cougars have won four matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Carsen Stegall was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero hits, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Calhoun Academy is 4-2 when Stegall posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, Calhoun Academy let Kaden Denton and Caiden Farmer run wild. Denton scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3, while Farmer scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Farmer has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Bronnor Bingham, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Calhoun Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Calhoun Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. Grace Christian is on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Calhoun Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Grace Christian: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
