Madden Lillard was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Indian Lake is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-7 otherwise. Lillard was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Kolton Cummins made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Cyrus Cummins, who went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bellefontaine). They blew past Shawnee 13-4 on Thursday. Surprisingly, this marked the Chieftains' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Brody Boy was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Zylar Huffman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one double.

Bellefontaine moved to 5-11 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Indian Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
