Enterprise has won 14 straight games at home, while Fairhope has won 14 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Wildcats will welcome the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Enterprise is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Auburn with a sharp 14-2 victory. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.
Enterprise got a massive performance out of Mikey Vanderheyden, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Walker Turner was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Enterprise was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Fairhope faced Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Pirates were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Red Devils. Seven seems to be a good number for the Pirates as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Rock Gearhart was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Another player making a difference was Lance Wade, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Fairhope has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 31-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Enterprise, their victory bumped their record up to 32-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Enterprise hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Fairhope struggles in that department as they've averaged .316. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
