Basketball Recap: Custer Falls Short Against Ranked Pine Ridge

On Friday, Custer faced Pine Ridge in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Custer Wildcats fell 49-36 to the Pine Ridge Thorpes. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Thorpes recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Marvin Richard Lll continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pine Ridge, almost dropping a double-double on 31 points and nine rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Richard Lll has scored at least a third of Pine Ridge's points. Alex Bissonette was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Custer fell to 3-1. As for Pine Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

Custer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 56-23 victory against Lakota Tech on the 21st. As for Pine Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-62 defeat against Rapid City Christian on the 21st.
