Basketball Game Preview: Coeur d'Alene Vikings vs. Borah Lions

The Coeur d'Alene Vikings will challenge the Borah Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Coeur d'Alene knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine matchups -- so hopefully Borah likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Coeur d'Alene made easy work of Post Falls and carried off a 70-48 victory. The Vikings have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 21 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coeur d'Alene to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kelsey Caroll, who dropped a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Those 24 points gave Caroll a new career-high. Brookeslee Colvin was another key player, going 7-for-11 on her way to 21 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Borah hadn't done well against Timberline recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way last Tuesday. Borah secured a 56-52 W over Timberline. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Borah found their leader in sophomore Kya Davis, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 21 points and eight rebounds. Davis continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nakiyia Percell, who went 6-for-13 en route to 15 points and six boards.

Coeur d'Alene has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.3 points over those games. As for Borah, their record is now 19-5.

Coeur d'Alene came up short against Borah in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, falling 51-44. Can Coeur d'Alene avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
